Tech Council of Maryland's Annual Dinner and Tech Award Winners Announced

The Most Influential Tech Executives and Companies were Named at the State's Largest Technology Event

(Rockville, MD)- April 6, 2006 -The Tech Council of Maryland (TCM) honored six companies and executives last night at its 17th Annual Awards Dinner held in front of a standing room only audience at the North Bethesda Marriott Conference Center in Rockville, MD.

TCM produced Maryland's Best Night of Networking and attracted more than 850 technology executives from throughout Virginia, Washington, DC and Maryland - 78 percent of whom were C-Level senior executives. TCM's annual event brought Congressman Chris Van Hollen and Montgomery County Executive Doug Duncan, and other dignitaries throughout the state face to face with Maryland's technology elite.

"This annual event has become the one place in Maryland that the state's leaders in technology, education and government come to meet, network and honor the industry's best," said Julie Coons, CEO of TCM. "We are one of the fastest growing Tech Councils in the country - largely due to our members enormous influence in the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond," said Coons.

The night belonged to Maryland's technology companies who were showcased in the most competitive awards in the Tech Council's history. Each company was nominated by its peers for the award and underwent review and certification by a Tech Council of Maryland Awards Committee.

The 2006 Tech Council of Maryland Technology awards were won by the following companies:

  • Entrepreneur of the Year Award was won by Randy Slager, President and CEO, Catapult Technologies of Bethesda, MD.
  • Biotechnology Firm of the Year Award was won by GenVec, Inc. of Gaithersburg, MD.
  • Government Contracting Firm of the Year was won by Z-Tech Corporation of Rockville, MD.
  • Executive of the Year Award was won by Pradman Kaul, CEO and President of Hughes Network Systems in Germantown, MD.
  • Legends/Community Service Award was won by AEPCO, Inc. Rockville, MD.

In addition, the Tech Council presented Maryland Delegate Kumar Barve and Maryland State Senator P.J. Hogan with its Technology Advocate of the Year Awards.
